Crazy Festive Week!

Photobucket
I hope you all had fun in your Christmas dinners and Christmas morning-afters!

The week following Christmas has been so tiring... I was working 6 days straight with 6-8 hr shifts. Retail can be really taxing! But I had fun nonetheless. I love my job and my co workers are definitely the best team I've ever worked with.

Sorry for the lack of updates. We just moved so the only Internet available is the one that I've been stealing from my neighbours (yay for apartments! thank you, belkin54G). The slow internet makes any sort of photo upload or attaching files a drag. And since I just changed my Windows XP to Windows 7, I had to re install everything. Worse comes to worst, I haven't found my Photoshop :( Pardon my unedited photos. Never imagined how hard it is to do stuff without the Internet.

I had a fun Christmas dinner. Dined at aunt's house. We decided that we are tired of turkey, so she made roast beef. I made the yorkshire pudding to go with it :). Mmm.

Oh! By the way, I lost 5 pounds already. So that's one thing off the major checklist!

I will have a stable Internet on the 14th! Until then, the posts will be boring with no pictures :(. Or I might not even be able to update. Rah rah rah.

Some photos from the dinner :)

My Christmas Eve outfit. New shirt from a friend, and the belt used to belong to my aunt. I think it's from the 80s :).

I love the belt so much

just all over the place

Just finished my 6-hr shift today and I am currently not studying for my final tomorrow. All is well. I cannot wait to go to sleep tonight. I just got my badge today! It's magnetic and very cool.

I get a pretty hefty discount at La Vie en Rose :). Since the central heating at my home does not work, I have been freezing every night in my bed. So I bought fuzzy socks from work!

Photobucket
white fuzzies. I haven't worn them yet.

Those are not the only things I bought. I bought a nice red scarf. This scarf is amazing. One of the best scarves ever made. It keeps me warm and pretty while being super soft to the skin.

and a nice pair of red slippers for my mom. Tiles are no longer evil to her :)

Notice the influx on red and white stuff? ;)

This week will be crazy! Good thing tomorrow is my last final exam. I am moving on Friday, and so I have been juggling between work, exams, and packing. My room is only 10% packed :(

Photobucket

I guess "not having enough time" is just another excuse for not finishing up the checklist :( but once I'm all settled in, I will start doing them! I promise!

Just a question from a Communications student,
"How would the world we know now work without advertising and consumerism?"

Cheers!

To sleep, or to sleep; that is always the question.

Photobucket
College students are famed for their excessive coffee consumption and their lack of sleep. I'm trying not to be one of the people who burns their midnight oil every night before the finals. Sadly, due to my crazy work schedule and lack of self control, I might not have enough time to study.

I asked a fellow friend, "should I have an 8-hr sleep tonight?" and she said "I usually like cramping and not sleep and just sleep right after the exam". To be honest, I'm not the best person to talk to when I am sleep deprived. I get quiet, unfocused, and just mean. So I decided to get a full 8-hr sleep tonight before my exam at 3:30 pm tomorrow. Good decision? Experts think so :)

Sleeping/Lack o' Sleep:

1. Adults between the ages of 24-39 who sleeps less than 7 hours a night are significantly more likely to be obese.
Because irregular or lack of sleep disrupts hormones that regulate appetite.

2. Insufficient/Irregular sleep has been linked to linked increased risk for colon cancer, breast cancer, heart disease and diabetes. (according to the Harvard-run Nurses' Health Study)

3. Sleeping is a great break!
In my opinion, it's the only way we can be totally relaxed and exempted from the world's worries. Sure, dreams might be in there, but it's always a new adventure!

4. Also, did I mention that exercise can increase your sleep quality?
It causes you to have a nice deep relaxing slumber :)

we've been eating what?!

Just taking a break from studying. As I'm reading my study guides for Kinesiology, I found a few interesting facts!
  1. Low fat diets doesn't necessarily mean less weight gain; in fact, we've been gaining weight cause of the low fat.
The low fat diet tells our body that we don't have enough fat, thus, we conserve the fats that we already have.

  2. Exercise will improve your body's sensitivity to insulin.

  3. It doesn't really matter how much calorie you consume, but the type of calorie you consume matters more.

  4. The Canadian Food Guide was funded by the Canadian Wheat Board. Tricky, eh.

  5. Not all fats are bad.
Saturated and Mono-Saturated fats are good for your health.

  6. Butter vs Margarine.
Butter is made up of cream and salt. Margarine is made up of 13 ingredients. Most I've never heard of and are processed.

  7. Avoid glycemic food (these, I refer to as the "evil carbs")
    More on Glycemic food here
In conclusion, my professor said this:
"If man made it, don't eat it".

Natural foods with the least amount of process would be better for our health.
Raw food diet, anyone?

Some Progress

It's going to be a small post about some updates.

I deactivated my Facebook account. Shocking. I know. Two reasons why:
1. Finals are coming up soon
2. Someone "hacked" my account and started advertising in my name. I was not impressed.

Well, again, finals are coming up soon so I have to focus on that, but I am doing other things to procrastinate. You know, grabbing the guitar for 5-10 minutes if I don't want to read my Kinesiology study guides.

I bought my cookie cutters for the gingerbread man!
He's your standard gingerbreadman. No, you can't catch him. He's from the dollar store :)

My new motto:
"Procrastinate tomorrow!"
(get it? procrastinate procrastination.. ha-ha)

Til later!
